Ogunquit Shellfish Committee Meeting

Budget
Chairman Arthur Damren went over the budget request for the coming year. The request includes: $3,000 for salaries, $600 for clothing, $550 for advertising and printing, $200 for signage and $3,000 for seed clams. He added that he is asking the Town to hire an individual to sell licenses at the landing on harvesting days.
2008 Season
The Chairman reported that average number of diggers per day for January, February and March was 60, 62, and 72, respectively. During that period, 462 daily licenses were sold bring in $6,930. .
Harvest Schedule
Chairman Damren recommended a schedule of 27 harvesting days this season consisting of holidays and alternate weekends between November 1st and March 31st. The Committee approved the schedule. The Chairman added that licenses will go on sale the last Friday of October.
Clam Survey
The Chairman announced that a clam survey of the Ogunquit River will be conducted the end of this month or the beginning of next.
Next Meeting
The Chairman requested that the Committee hold another meeting to discuss the clam survey results when they become available. The Committee agreed.
