Lobster Zone F Council Meeting
Yarmouth Town Hall – Community Room
September 11, 2007 – 7:00 p.m.

Present: Elliott Thomas, Donald Ulrickson, David Merryman, David Johnson, Glenn Rogers, Eric Anderson, Chuck Rommel, Jeff Putnam, Gary Hawkes, Clayton Whidden, Bill Doane, Steve Train, Jodie Jordan, Rep. Lelia Percy, Sgt. Paul Joyce and Sarah Cotnoir.

Call to Order

David Merryman called the meeting to order and introductions were made at 7:05.

Approval of Minutes

Minutes from (Dec. 4, 2006, Feb. 26, 2007 & March 29, 2007)
E. Thomas motion to approve minutes as written, second by D. Johnson, minutes approved unanimous.

Reports and Updates

Elliott Thomas gave an update of the LAC Meeting. Elliot reported that random drug testing would not be going forward in LAC due to many complications.

DMR update by Sarah Cotnoir:

Proposed increase in the size of the ghost panel also a requirement for a smaller mesh on the bottom side of traps.

Zone C has a referendum on a limited entry for its zone.

Zones B and G have referendums for new zone members to apprentice in their respective zones in order to receive a licensee.

The Mohegan zone is getting a longer season but will not be able to fish as many traps as in the past.

Alternative bait will be required to label ingredients.

Maine was voted out of compliance by the AMAFC for herring.

In 2008 10% of license holders will be required to report landings, this will also include recreational licenses.

District Representatives

Some dead lobsters have been found in traps.

Marine Patrol Report

No new news.

Business

Vote on “Fishing family bill” all opposed.

Vote on tag fee to increase for whale foraging research with a sunset clause, 9 for 1 opposed.

Code of ethics to be signed by board, all attending members signed but one. J. Adams.
