Lobster Zone F Council Meeting
Yarmouth Town Hall – Community Room
December 4, 2006 – 7:00 p.m.

Present: Elliott Thomas, Donald Ulrickson, David Merryman, David Johnson, Bill Doane, Jeffery Adams, Glenn Rogers, Clayton Whidden, Gary Hawkes, Jim Merryman, Scott Couture, Andy Ulrickson, Rep. Lila Percy, Lt. Jon Cornish, Sgt. Paul Joyce, and Sarah Cotnoir.

Call to Order

David Merryman called the meeting to order and introductions were made at 7:05.

Approval of Minutes

Not enough members were present for a quorum therefore, no vote was taken.

Reports and Updates

Elliott Thomas gave an update of the LAC meeting. Elected officers and slate of officers were the same as previous year.

Chad Dorr was approved for the Lobster Promotion Council by the LAC.

DMR update by Sarah Cotnoir:
• New apprentices will have to take a Coast Guard Safety course to complete their apprenticeship.
• A proposed bill that would address commercial license applicants of 17 years of age to take a written test.

District Representatives

No updates were reported.

Marine Patrol Report

Handouts were passed out about shrimp tows and the VHF channels to monitor to help reduce gear conflicts.
The two DAM closures in November were both extended by two weeks.

Three newly graduated officers from the Academy will start work the beginning of the year.

Cundys Harbor will be receiving a new Marine Patrol officer that will be transferring from Rockland.

Business

Zone F council drafted a letter to send to the NMFS regarding Addendum X:

“Maine Lobster Zone F Council would like to see a sea sampling, vent less trap, sediment sampling and trawl surveying in place of any trip level reporting or any individual reporting.”
