Lobster Zone F Council Meeting
Yarmouth Town Hall – Community Room
February 26, 2007 – 7:00 p.m.

Present: Elliott Thomas, Donald Ulrickson, David Merryman, David Johnson, Jeffery Adams, Glenn Rogers, Bill Doane, Gary Hawkes, Jim Merryman, Kevin Griffin, Ted Bear, Howard Gray, Charles Gray, Kristan Millar, Sgt. Paul Joyce, Jeni Menendez, Lynda Doughty and Sarah Cotnoir.

Call to Order

David Merryman called the meeting to order at 7:20 and introductions were made.

Approval of Minutes

Not enough members were present for a quorum therefore, no vote was taken.

Reports and Updates

Elliott Thomas gave an update of the LAC meeting that was held on February 13th.
o NOVA weather reports are changing from two zones to five zones.
o The trap ghost panel requirements may increase in size.

Kristan Millar from the Maine Lobster Promotion Council came to talk about the Lingistino Lobster. The Lingistino Lobster is actually a crab, but the FDA has approved it to be called a lobster. That has resulted in a lower boat price.

DMR update by Sarah Cotnoir:
o It will be another 6-8 months for the release of the whale regulations.
o Steve Robbins is no longer with the DMR. The DMR is looking to hire a new gear specialist.

Carl Wilson from the DMR reported that:
o There were 66 million pounds of lobster landed in 2006.
o Knox and Washington Counties were the only two counties to increase their landings.
o More funding for three more ventless trap projects.

Marine Patrol Report

No updates were reported.

Business

The council reviewed proposed bills affecting the lobster industry.
