Lobster Advisory Council update – effort reduction, trap reduction and discussion on tiered license system. Exit ratio ineffective – look toward top end discussed.
Replacement tags – supported by lobstermen to get gear out of the water – also keeping each lobsterman to amount fished in zone.
Exit Ratio – trial for this was a positive for the council.
Stock assessment – Rockland hearing, low number attendance.
Whales– lawsuit filed, DAM areas.
Production cut backs – Zones discussing Sunday hauling/weekend, lobstermen/shorten haul times.
Zone C – survey out on limited entry – zone is closed while survey is going on.
Student waiting list – 77% support on student waiting list, student must be 17 not 18 to get lobster license – a vote needs to take place on this to decide on student waiting list.
Federal Lobster reporting – electronic reporting.
MSC update – Now a full assessment for certification, market study in progress – motion – it is beneficial that assessment being done in the lobster industry.
