Delegates Reports:
LAC: Spoke about the tiered License system. There is still a lot of talk within the sub-committee on how to develop a system in which to decide who goes into what tier. Things to be considered are landings and income. Doug McLennan had a lot of questions about the tier license system. There appears to be a lot of concern in the Spruce Head area. Gerry Cushman and Sarah Cotnoir spoke about the recent bills before the Marine Resources Committee.
Motion not to support “An Act to Prohibit Dragging for Bait Fish in Certain Territorial Water” was put forward by Gerry Cushman. Council voted (unanimous) not to support.
Dan Staples made a motion not to support LD585. Gerry second, 10 in favor, one opposed.
Dan Staples made a motion not to support LD691. Gerry second. 11 in favor, none opposed.
Gerry made a motion, Ryan second, on not to support LD 246. 11 in favor, none opposed.
ASMFC: Jason has an LCMT Area 1 meeting coming up in April.
Whales: Some talk about whales.
Zone C: Wayne Canning attended the last Zone C meeting; there was a vote on Limited Entry and Zone C did not close there zone.
Zone E: No real news other than there has been no meeting date set.
DMR Updates: Sarah had a few updates about upcoming rulemaking.
Motion made by Jim Wotton, Kevin Benner second, to make 2 options instead of 3 on the referendum because of the chance of getting a 2/3 vote on 3 questions would be difficult to obtain. 11 in favor, none opposed.
