Revised Plan – September 12, 2001
The Lobster Conservation Management Team 1 met September 6, 2001, and re-evaluated their Plan submitted June 1, 2001. The Team acknowledged that the Lobster Management Board accepted their Plan as presented, but deemed it insufficient in meeting egg production targets beyond 2007.
Although the Team continues to believe that increases in v-notching will maintain Area 1 on target with the rebuilding schedule as outlined in Addendum II, the Team voted 15-1 that following the next stock assessment or following a technical review by using another model, it is determined that Area 1 is not on target to reach its EPR goal by 2008, Area 1 will increase the rectangular escape vent size on traps to 2” in 2007 with a complimentary increase in circular vent size.
