There must be
at least one USCG approved PFD of the proper size
for each person aboard the vessel.
For all vessels 40 ft or more within the 3-mile line:
- a Type I, Type V, or Immersion suit
is required
For all vessels less than 40 ft within the 3-mile
line:
- a Type I, II, III, V, or Immersion
suit is required
For all documented vessels seaward of the 3-mile line:
- an Immersion Suit is required
