Our Mission

The Office of Health Data and Program Management (OHDPM) collects, maintains and updates population-based health data, Maine's Vital Records system and Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance; assures access to health services in rural and underserved communities through recruitment of medical professionals and infrastructure development; and provides administrative support to the Bureau of Health in areas of budget, personnel, contracting, information/data and program management evaluation.

PROGRAMS

ADMINISTRATION
OHDPM Administration provides cross bureau administrative support, financial and audit support services, assistance in performance-based contracting and strategic planning on special projects.

BEHAVIORAL RISK FACTOR SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
BRFSS is a telephone survey of a sample of the Maine population to determine the prevalence of behaviors that increase risk of premature death, disease and disability. These behavioral risk factors include: cigarette smoking, excessive weight, uncontrolled hypertension, high cholesterol, lack of physical activity, non-use of preventive screening practices.

OFFICE OF DATA, RESEARCH AND VITAL STATISTICS
ODRVS provides summary data on births, deaths, fetal deaths and abortions for research, planning, policy development and program management; the office provides population estimates, compiles data on health  status and health resources; provides technical assistance and consultation on statistical analyses.

VITAL RECORDS
Vital Records collects and maintains individual records of births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages and divorces, issuing certified copies on request; provides acknowledgement of paternity, correction of records, and addition of legal name changes to birth records; maintains an Adoption Reunion Registry.
