Maine WIC Program Approved Foods List

The WIC Program is open to pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, and children up to age five. The foods provided by the WIC program are intended to supplement the diet with important nutrients. For example, approved cereals have iron. The 100% juices provide vitamin C.
Below are some examples of possible cereal combinations. Note it may not always be possible to purchase the EXACT amount of cereal listed on your check.

Remember - You can buy less, but never more.
WIC Transaction Procedures
- Review the dates on the WIC check. Do not use checks dated before the "first date to use" or after the "last date to use".
- Make sure the items selected are WIC approved and do not exceed the quantity listed on the check. Always consult your WIC Approved Foods List.
- Separate your WIC items for each check.
- Give you WIC ID to the cashier even if you know each other.
- The cashier will ask you to fill in the purchase price of the WIC items. The computer in some stores will do this for you.
- The cashier will ask you to sign the check.
- The cashier will compare your signature to the one on your WIC ID Folder.
- The cashier will give you a receipt.
The WIC program is an equal opportunity program.
