These two topics are combined within a single training session and give participants the chance to talk about real situations. Participants will be introduced to 34-B MRSA 5601-5610, which describes the rights of Maine citizens with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. Any professionals supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorders must help their consumers to understand these rights. Professionals are also obligated to see that the rights of their clients are honored. . These regulations govern the use of emergency interventions and behavioral treatment in a manner consistent with maximizing the safety, well-being, independence, and inclusion of Maine citizens with intellectual disabilities or autism.
