Many people as they age are able to stay independent and take care of themselves and their business.  Others  however may need assistance.  Frequently people turn first to family and friends for help.  This seminar, sponsored by Maine’s Bureau of Elder and Adult Services, is for anyone who is helping an aging friend or relative make decisions about care and finances or for anyone who is interested in learning more about this for themselves.  It is never too early to start planning ahead for these types of decisions.

Information will be presented on living wills, powers of attorney for health care and for finances, guardianships and conservatorships, social services available to the public and other resources that are available.  The Bureau, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, promotes independence for older citizens and adults in need of protective and supportive services.

A minimum of 10 participants are needed for this program
