Practical Approaches for Supporting Adults with Brain Injuries

Intended Audience: Department of Health and Human Services employees, foster and adoptive parents and the staff of Social Service agencies providing services for clients of the Department.

This three hour course will address effective methods and strategies for assisting persons with brain injuries to achieve their goals. Key topics will include:

• Brain-behavior relationships
• Frontal lobe injuries
• Challenging behaviors
• Essential components of support services
• Effective adaptations & accommodations
• Co-occurring conditions (developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance abuse)
