TO PROMOTE MODELING AND ATTITUDES THAT ENCOURAGE A HEALTHY LIFE STYLE AND DEMONSTRATE A WILLINGNESS TO DEAL WITH ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND OTHER DRUG DEPENDENCY AS A DISEASE.
Modeling appropriate behavior is a powerful element of the overall program and is essential to the long-term success of any effort. As teachers, parents, and students demonstrate an understanding of ATOD dependency as a disease in their daily attitudes and behaviors, lasting change occurs.
On a personal level, each person who is involved with the program is willing to examine and deal with his/her own relationship to ATOD use, and the ways in which his/her life has been affected.
At the organizational level, the school, parents and community must promote activities which encourage a healthy lifestyle. It is critical that individuals and groups work together to develop consistent and comprehensive solutions. Effective local networks are the best means to make the most of available resources.
