Dr.
Kirby – Physician on UK -
Dr. Kirby is also very new to the hospital but has quickly distinguished himself as a quality
champion. He has given much needed psychiatric leadership to Upper Kennebec. He is honest,
sincere, follows through with what he promises, and has a great sense of humor. This is clear
to any who have attended UK dry rounds and heard his "Thought of the Day." He works
closely with all his clients and with staff to provide treatment, guidance, and mentoring.
He is interested in making quality clinical care his highest priority. His perseverance and
patience led to the discharge of several clients that were deemed impossible to discharge (and
who have made wonderful adjustments to the community).

Dr.
Wear-Finkle – Physician on LK -
Despite being in the hospital for less than a year, Dr. Wear-Finkle has already distinguished
herself as a leader in individualizing treatment for our clients, and for always incorporating
the hospital's mission and values. She has at times come in on second shift on her own time
to develop community supports that were only available at that time. This included a trip to
Oakland with a client to look at a group home. She goes out of her way to publicly acknowledge
a job well done by any member of the team. She consistently has a positive attitude and a great
sense of humor. She has initiated psychiatrists attending intershift meetings to make the 3
to 11 staff feel like more of the team and she strongly supports Community meeting. She, along
with Coleen Cutler, have given leadership to the reduction in restraint usage on Lower Kennebec.
