Message from the Superintendent (November 16, 2007)

"Optimism is essential to achievement and it is also the foundation of courage and true progress." - Lloyd Alexander

I would like to share with you a special award the hospital received this week. This recognition came due to the hard work of Riverview staff in developing a safer care environment. It is with great pride the hospital accepted this recognition. It demonstrates that Riverview staff are not satisfied with only discussing the risks and costs those we serve face, but take action to ensure that each of them have the benefit of the best care environment. Good job!

A couple of other acknowledgements I must make. Sandy Poulin was identified by one of the physicians to me as a dedicated staff member who went out of her way to assist in good communication and problem solve to enhance client care through good team work. Good job Sandy!

I also wanted to express my to those job coaches, Lori Tuggle and George McLaughlin and to the group of clients who have done a superb job in the work that they have done in the beautification of our grounds. Not only does it promote recovery, enhance the beauty of our facility, but it enriches our lives by providing us with what really matters in this world.

I am also please to announce that it is National Nurse Practitioner's Week. Riverview is lucky to have three dedicated nurse practitioner’s; Doris Solmitz, Randy Beal, and Katherine Verderosa are all important parts of the Riverview team.

As always, thanks for your good work.

In service,

David S. Proffitt
