Message from the Superintendent (November 09, 2007)
This is Health Information and Technology Week (covering MIS and medical records) and Admission Week. Often taken for granted, these fine staff allow the hospital to run smoothly. Good Job to Barney Degen, MHW lV he has implemented daily walks with clients assisting them in becoming healthier and happier! Barney is averaging 6 to 8 clients per walk. Great job. A lot of good therapeutic communication can occur during such shared time which goes way beyond the obvious physical benefits. Hospital will be receiving a presentation on 11-15-07 from the Cancer Society and the Maine Tobacco Free Partnership for hard work the hospital has done to become a tobacco free campus. This is something that all staff and clients can take pride in. It was an endeavor that some thought impossible. A special “Good going!” to each of you that took the opportunity to change your personal life habits as we also challenged those we serve to do so. The hospital has also been contacted by National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors National Research Institute. This is an organization designed to compile data and conduct research activities on various aspects of state mental health. They would like this hospital’s support in developing ways to assist other hospitals in the country achieve your outcomes. Your work is being recognized as outstanding and I hope you are proud. I know I am. As always, thank you for your good work. In service, David S. Proffitt
