Message from the Superintendent (December 22, 2006)

"The most satisfying thing in life is to have been able to give a large part of one's self to others."- Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Happy holidays to each and everyone one of you. I wish each of you a joyful season with friends and family. It is a great time of year and even more special when working in such a caring environment. I received a note concerning the hospital giving tree I would like to share, “My family and I want to thank Everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all of the generosity and kindness that we have received this holiday season. Words cannot begin to express how we felt when we learned of how much time, money and effort had gone into making such a Wonderful Christmas for our family and especially our little girl! At 2 ½ years old, this will be the first Christmas that she has a true awareness of how special Christmas time is and because of the help from all of you it will surely be a Christmas for us to remember! When we look back at the photos from this year, we will be thinking of all of you and how much we appreciate how you made this all happen for us we would like to wish all of you and your families a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God Bless!” Thanks to everyone who contributed.

More happy news, Nicole Ginka, gave birth to her twins earlier this week!!! Maya weighed 7 lb 8 oz and Surry weighed 6 lb 2 oz. Everyone is doing fine and the girls are perfect in every way. Merry Christmas!

I wanted to take a moment and acknowledge some examples of Riverview’s staff contributions this last week

Bob Patnaude, (better known as “Safety Bob”), on his own, figured out how to re-order the duress transmitters and have them programmed on site. Prior to this Riverview had to order via Canada and pay $200.00 per pager. The initial order of 5 replacement pages means Bob just saved us $600.00 and in the future $120.00 Each. Good job Bob!

An astute Security officer noticed that a client’s level slip had been altered and called the unit. This helped keep the client safe and not eloping. Thanks to all our security officers for helping keep clients safe.

Over the past several months, Riverview has received several compliments on how we have done on our billing from central offices. Thanks Leon. Cindy, Ron, Beth, Earlene you guys and ladies are doing a great job!

Pearl Allen has been a trooper regarding the Multiple data entry (and sometimes reentry) issues in assisting in the organization in decision-making. She regularly goes above and beyond for the better good. Great job.

Within the next couple of weeks, the hospital will be recognizing the next class of “Riverview Quality Champions”. This is another way we try to recognize those staff who have a long tradition of displaying the qualities of our staff that we each admire. I look forward to this event in early January.

As always thank you for your good work.

Happy Holidays,

David S. Proffitt
