Message from the Superintendent (December 15, 2006)“Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful." - Joshua J. Marine Well, if you hope to avoid the Maine cold for as long as possible, you should be feeling pretty good about the weather right now. Pretty mild for mid December! A second group of Riverview Quality Champions will be announced at the Christmas Tea on the 21st of December in the Sebago room. I hope as many of you that can, will attend. I would like to bring to your attention two individual employees who go over and beyond the call of duties in there jobs. Sheila Andrews, MHW III who functions as the Central Supply Tech here at Riverview. Sheila is one of those Riverview employees that has no special week of recognition or a special day that I know of. She deserves to hear a thank you for a job well done. I truly respect the job she does and the dedication to our patients and other staff. In addition, Judy Lumbert has worked in the Admissions office for the past two years, (as well as working on the units to help cover for unanticipated staff absences). She is one of the people you can count on to do whatever she can to assist in the mission of Riverview. She is another one of the valued employees who fall in the same category as Sheila. There is no special day or month for someone in Judy's position. A BIG Thank You to each of you. One problem with the weather is that we are getting thawing and freezing and the potential of very slippery conditions. Be careful coming and going to your cars. Also, please take extra care driving. Each of you has friends and family that depend on you and need you. I know Riverview does! If you identify a place on campus that is hazardous, please take any action readily available to reduce risk and notify the appropriate person. When in doubt notify Bob Patnaude, (or as I like to refer to him, “Safety Bob”). In closing, as always, thank you for your good work. Best wishes and happy holidays, David S. Proffitt “Progress lies not in enhancing what is, but in advancing toward what will be." - Kahlil Gibran,
