Riverview Psychiatric Center

Message from the Superintendent (March 10, 2006)

I have been listening to the testimony of the Consent Decree Court Master, Chief Justice Dan Wathan, testifying in front of the State Legislatures' Appropriation Committee this morning (http://janus.state.me.us/legis/audio/approps.html) . He stated something, on the record, that I feel is worth repeating, these are powerful words and is a great testament to all the work you do, and is a great Weekly Update….

"The Riverview Psychiatric Hospital is now operating very well, probably as well as it has ever operated in our recent history… It is a better hospital than it has been in a long time". Chief Justice Dan Wathan…..Court Master 3/10/06

I know that you don't hear the praise you deserve at the rate you deserve. Thanks from the state is not always able to be heard. The work you do, the challenges you meet, the lives you touch are incredibly important. You are making a difference in individual lives and in the lives of those individual’s families and friends. I hope each of you smile, feel pride, and feel fortunate to work with dedicated others that make such a difference.

I know I do.

As always…thanks for your work

David Proffitt
Superintendent
