Riverview Pychiatric CenterMessage from the Superintendent (November 18, 2005)“No problem is insurmountable. With a little courage, teamwork and determination a person can overcome anything.” - B. Dodge
I wanted to take a moment to just say thank you to everyone for the good job you do here. This week we celebrate our obtaining Riverview’s full licensure. It was a nice celebration. It is important to take a moment now and then and review our accomplishments. Although it is great to get outside confirmation, it is of equal or greater importance that we recognize and validate for ourselves our accomplishments as well as our challenges. We have accomplished much. We have helped many. In some cases, we have witnessed incredible steps toward recovery. In many cases, we were the support for those steps. Together with your co-workers we have developed a new treatment planning process, increased client participation in their care, moved into a new hospital, obtained a three year JCAHO Accreditation, Full Licensing, positive reviews by advocacy groups, completed a court compliance plan and generally become recognized as an outstanding place of treatment and rehabilitation. Family members, person’s in need, and even advocacy agencies have identified Riverview as a place for the best care! One of the obstructions we must be careful of however, is forgetting that everyone working here at Riverview is here to help. Help others live better more rewarding lives. We all, at our center, have the same goal. Our thoughts of how to get there may be different, but our intent is the same. Hopefully that is something we can all believe in. If we can focus on our shared principles and not on the personality flaws that we all carry, are opportunities to further and magnify our good efforts will be maximized.
Have a great weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
David S. Proffitt, Superintendent Riverview Psychiatric Center
