Maine Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking proposals for client services for the Maine Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP). 

WIC is a federally funded nutrition program enacted pursuant to the provisions of the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 (Section 17).  The Program is funded through the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  WIC provides supplemental foods, nutrition education and referrals to other health and social service programs to pregnant and nursing women and children up the age of 5.

This Request for Proposals (RFP) is designed to select a qualified Local Agency for each of the DHHS districts who will be responsible for providing services pursuant to Maine WIC Rules, 10-144 Chapter 286 and WIC Federal Regulations, 7 CFR Part 246.

Bidders Conference:  10:00 a.m., February 1, 2008, 244 Water Street, 1st floor conference room, Augusta, ME  04333.  The Bidder’s Conference is open to the public.

Written Questions:  due no later than 5:00 p.m. local time, February 15, 2008.

COMPLETED PROPOSALS must be received and will be opened no later than 2:00 p.m. local time, Monday, April 7, 2008 at the following address:  Division of Purchase; Burton M. Cross State Office Bldg 4th Floor, 111 Sewall St; 9 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333-0009.  Proposal package(s) must be labeled with the RFP number and title.  We do NOT accept faxed proposals.
