Juvenile Programs

The Office of Substance Abuse (OSA) and the Maine Department of Corrections (MDOC) are dedicated to working collaboratively to provide treatment and support to our Maine youth who are criminally involved. OSA contracts with Substance Abuse Treatment agencies to provide both Institutional and Community based evidence driven services. These services currently include Motivational and Cognitive Behavioral treatment programming using the Cannabis Youth Treatment Series (CYT), and Strengths Based Treatment modalities. Evidence has proven that by using these treatment strategies with adolescents involved with the criminal justice system, recidivism and substance abuse are greatly decreased. The network of juvenile treatment providers meets regularly to monitor program implementation and build better systems for access and referral for adolescent criminal justice clients statewide.
