Fair Hearings
If You Disagree With A MaineCare Decision, You Have A Right To An Administrative Hearing
When MaineCare makes a decision about your coverage, MaineCare will send you a letter explaining it. If you do not agree with the decision, you can ask for a hearing. The letter tells you how to do this.
At the hearing, MaineCare will explain its decision. You will get a chance to say why you think the decision is wrong. A hearing officer will listen to both sides and send a recommendation to the Commissioner of Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The Commissioner makes the final decision.
You can bring anyone to the hearing to support you or to speak. You also may have a lawyer.
