Free Online Training for CNAs, PSS, DSP, MHRT-1 and Others

The University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School, under an agreement with Maine Department of Health and Human Services, is offering free online continuing education training in 2014. Upon completing each course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Brain Injury Basics (1 hour) - Prevalence of brain injury in Maine and nationally; understanding the types of brain injury and how the brain works; effects of brain injury on families and caregivers.
Dementia Basics (4 hours) - Basic information needed for dementia care; impact of changes to thinking skills; communication expressed through behavior.
Infection Control and Prevention (1.5 hours) - Understanding healthcare-associated and emerging infectious diseases; infection prevention practices in the home and community; protecting yourself and your clients.
Introduction to Substance Abuse (2 hours) - Facts about drugs and the effects of drug abuse; signs of abuse and addiction; approaches to prevention, treatment, and recovery.
