EDI Batch File Submissions Only: Claims Rejected for Invalid Frequency Code, CRs 31817 and 31819

Some claims submitted via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) batch file prior to March 26, 2013 were rejected incorrectly for a Claim Frequency Code 7: “The valid claim frequency codes are 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.” This issue has been corrected (CR 31817). If you submitted a claim with frequency code 7 and the claim was rejected, you may now resubmit the claim.
There has been a second, related issue further confusing claim Frequency Code 7 (CR 31819). The Data in Error section of the Business Rejection Report (BRR) incorrectly displays an invalid Frequency Code 7 message with a rejection, rather than the claim frequency code that was submitted on the claim that caused the rejection. The issue with displaying the incorrect rejection reason as a Frequency Code 7 being invalid will display the error message: “The valid claim frequency codes are 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.” This issue has been corrected and the Data in Error section of the BRR will now properly report the invalid claim frequency code that was on the claim. If you submitted claims with an inappropriate claim frequency code and the claims were rejected as invalid, they will continue to reject appropriately.
