CORRECTION: Co-Pay Exemptions for Preventive Services, CR 29058
March 5, 2013
On Friday, February 15, 2013, we sent a listserv message related to Section 4106 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with incorrect information.
Section 4106 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has recommended that certain preventive health care services be exempt from co-payments. This section of the Act was optional for States to implement and not mandatory. Maine is not implementing this section of the ACA.
Services provided to children (under the age of 21) and pregnant women have been, and will continue to be, co-pay exempt. Additional exemptions are identified in Chapter I, Administrative Policy and Procedures of the MaineCare Benefits Manual. All other co-pay requirements identified in specific sections of the MaineCare Benefits Manual remain in effect.
