Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) 2013 Psychiatry Codes

Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) 2013 Psychiatry Codes

For 2013, there have been major changes to the codes in the Psychiatry section of the American Medical Association’s Current Procedural Terminology (CPT). These changes apply to services provided beginning January 1, 2013. MIHMS will be ready to receive these new codes on January 1, 2013. These codes will primarily be used by providers who currently utilize CPT psychiatry codes. Hospitals (MaineCare Manual Benefits Section 45) and Physician Offices (MaineCare Manual Benefits Section 90) are the two provider types affected by this change. Providers using HCPC codes under a different section of Policy, such as Mental Health Agencies (Section 65 Chapter III) will continue to use HCPC codes that are outlined in Chapter III of that Policy and are not affected by this change.
