Secondary Medicare Claims

There is currently an issue with duplicate logic in MIHMS when processing claims secondary to Medicare. In some cases, a provider submits a paper claim because the original claim did not cross over, or has taken longer than usual to process.
If this happens and the initial crossover claim is in process to be paid, the paper submission by the provider may also process as a paid claim. Overpayments as a result of this issue will be recouped on a future Remittance Advice (RA).
Providers who are preparing to submit a paper claim that is secondary to Medicare should check the MIHMS Portal prior to submitting the paper claim to ensure that a claim is not already in process.
