Timely Filing for Claim Adjustments

November 8, 2011

Claims adjustments must be filed within 120 days after the Remittance Advice (RA) date. However, the claims system cannot accurately calculate this. An adjustment filed may get denied for timely filing, if it arrives more than 120 days after the paid date. If you are filing a claim adjustment more than 120 days after the paid date, the claim needs to go to a Provider Relations Specialist. The specialist will determine whether the policy-set deadline has been met or an exception is merited.
