Maine's Health Information Exchange (HIE)

Overview

CMS defines HIE as the secure and interoperable sharing of health information in a manner that protects the confidentiality, privacy, and security of an individual’s information.

Maine’s Regional Extension Center (MEREC)/ HealthInfoNet (HIN)

MEREC Provider Forums

MEREC held four free regional forums in October and November 2010. At the forums, providers learned how EHRs can improve patient care, boost efficiency, meet new meaningful use requirements and qualify for federal incentives.

MEREC is planning more regional forums for spring 2011. More information will be available soon.

 

Office of the State Coordinator (OSC) for HIT

On August 25, 2010, ONC approved the Maine Statewide HIE Strategic and Operational Plans submitted by the OSC. The plan outlines how the State will expand and coordinate HIT.
