Eligibility of Service

Childrens’ Behavioral Health Services (CBHS) contracts with many agencies throughout the state to offer a broad range of services for children (birth until their 21st birthday), and their families, if they have treatment needs related to:

  • Mental Health
  • Mental Retardation
  • Pervasive Developmental Disorders

  • Developmental Disability

Important Information:

  • Some services can be gotten through your private insurance
  • But for most services, your child would need to have MaineCare

Want to Apply for MaineCare?

  • Call or visit the DHHS office closest to your home
  • Tell them you want to apply for Medicaid
  • They will work with you to get the necessary information they need to decide about eligibility
  • If you have a child with a serious physical or mental health condition, your child may be eligible for MaineCare even if the rest of your family is not.
