Public Hearing Notice: Olmstead Plan - Details

May 1, 2014

You are invited to comment on Maine’s services to people with developmental disabilities. Maine DHHS is looking for feedback on the changes that have taken place over the last ten years and looking ahead for the next ten years.

In 2003 DHHS developed a “Roadmap for Change” in response to the Supreme Court’s “Olmstead Decision.” The “Olmstead Decision” required all states to provide services to people with disabilities in their communities as opposed to institutions.

Last year Maine DHHS reviewed the services for people with developmental disabilities. The public is invited to examine and give comments on this report: Olmstead Roadmap for Change – Update for Developmental Services. Two Public Hearings will be held and comments will be accepted for 30 days.

Public Hearings: Tuesday, May 6, 2014 Maine DHHS Office 161 Marginal Way, Portland Conference Room A from 4:00-6:00PM

Tuesday, May 13, 2104 Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center 656 State Street, Bangor Old Auditorium from 4:00-6:00PM
