Maine’s Alzheimer’s Services Program provides diversified services to individuals with dementia in order for their caregivers to have respite from the rigors of ongoing caregiving. The program may reimburse for a variety of services such as: in and out of home respite, Adult Day Services, and home modifications. These services allow caregivers with the time to do things other than caregiving such as shop, pay bills, visit family members, go to medical/dental appointments and rest.
The Alzheimer’s Respite Program is also a source of information and support for individuals caring for a family member/friend.Information provided to caregiver includes, but is not limited to: caregiver training, support groups and activities for caregivers of individuals with dementia, and the Family Caregiver Program.
