Welcome to the Mandated Reporter Training for Suspected Adult Abuse and Neglect.

Training Purpose:

Understand adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation in Maine, and learn about the system of laws and services that exists to respond to the problem.

Training Objectives:

  1. Identify the prevalence and scope of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of dependent or incapacitated adults in Maine.
  2. Discuss the dynamics and the impact on individual victims and families.
  3. Describe the system of laws and services that exists to respond to the issues of adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Confidentiality:

Clearly, abuse of any type is a very sensitive issue; therefore any materials, cases, or situations used throughout this training will be de-identified to maintain confidentiality.

  1. Have your ever made a report to the Adult or Child Protective Intake Units? If yes, what was it like?
  1. From your experience working with the Deparment of Health and Human Services is there something you would recommend to improve how referrals from mandatory reporters are received?
  1. What kinds of information will be the most helpful to you in your job?
