BOARD OF LICENSURE OF WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATORS

October 20, 2005 Meeting

Called to Order: 

 

The meeting was called to order at 9:20 A.M.

 

Trevor Hunt made a motion to accept the minutes from the August 18, 2005 meeting and Carlton Gardner 2^nd the motion.  It was accepted unanimously.

 

General Administration:

 

Financial:

           

            Expenses                               $32,832.00

            Income                                    $46,499.00

 

Trainings:  Classes for Class 3 & 4 treatment and distribution are needed to help with training for the operators.  Terry will work on the RFP to see if anything can be offered. 

 

Exams:  The exams will be given in Augusta on the 25^th and in Presque Isle on the 27^th of October.  There are 102 people schedule for Augusta and 25 people schedule for Presque Isle.

 

Operator Renewals:    Letters went out for 2003 and 2004 to remind them about the 3 year grace period. 

 

We have received approximately 100 renewals so far with 85 billed to ERG.  Few of the operators are not sending in copies of their TCH’s.    The VSWS operators could receive safety credits from their local fire department or schools that offer classed. 

 

TCH Approvals:  Terry Trott has approved most classes offered so far.  The TCH’s will remain the same for now. 

 

Operator Update:  The DWP is down to 53 systems that have issues.  Notices of violation are going out.

 

Executive session was called by Terry at 10:20 and ended at 10:40. 

 

A complaint was brought before the Board and an open investigation, into complaint # 0501, will proceed.

 

Old Business:

 

ERG Grant:  The Grant will continue with training and has been asked for $30, 000, toward new software.  With the new software we can list TCH’s, courses taken, applicant will get ID # when they apply for the exam. 

 

Rebecca has worked on a brochure to help the VSWS operators find information on trainings being offered.

 

New Business: 

 

            The managers from the Eating and Lodging program have been working with the DWP to keep tract of Public Water Supply’s

 

The ABC Convention is January  24 – 27, 2005 and will be held in Las Vegas.  This year the Board will be sending Rebecca Reynolds and David Bartlett.
