REQUIREMENTS FOR BRINGING AN INDUSTRIAL X-RAY UNIT INTO MAINE

Before bringing the x-ray unit into the State of Maine each owner/user must:

  1. Complete and submit to the Radiation Control Program the registration form with the proper registration fee,
  2. Inform the Radiation Control Program where the unit will be used and how long the unit will be in Maine,
  3. Have the x-ray equipment inspected by a Qualified Expert (list enclosed) within 30 days of entering the state. A copy of this report must be sent to the Radiation Control Program, any areas of non-compliance must be repaired/adjusted within 60 days and a copy of the service representative's report sent to the Radiation Control Program.
  4. If the unit is to be used for less than 30 days in Maine, an inspection report performed by an outside inspector must be submitted to the Radiation Control Program.
