Office of Substance Abuse - Chapter 2 Driver Education and Evaluation Programs Procedure Manual - Appendix

1. Abuse: Use of alcohol or other substances that may result in harm to oneself or another.

2. Contact Hours: At least fifty-minute group or individual session comprised of education and/or interaction for the purpose of attaining treatment goal(s).

3. Continual: Close prolonged succession or occurrence.

4. Continuous: Without voluntary interruption.

5. Difficulty: Trouble or distress.

6. Disintegrate: Breaking up.

7. Disorder: Upset normal functions or health.

8. Frequent Abuse: Use of alcohol or other substances that may result in harm to oneself or another more than four times per year.

9. Occasional: Irregular or rare intervals.

10. Occasional Abuse: Use of alcohol or other substances that may result in harm to oneself or another less than four times per year.

11. Problem: Any puzzling or difficult circumstances or person.

12. Rare: Four times or less per year.

13. Repeated: Established pattern or frequent abuse.

14. Serious: Giving cause for concern.

15. Several: More than two.

16. Tolerance: Ability to resist the effects of a drug, etc., taken over a period of time in larger and larger doses.
