Certificate Program:
Co-Occurring Conditions of Mental Health and Substance Abuse

A collaboration between CCSME and the USM Center for Continuing Education

Individuals and families typically do not face substance abuse and mental health conditions as separate isolated challenges. Many, if not most, of those who seek behavioral health care have intertwined issues of mental health and substance abuse.

In this certificate program participants will:

  • Discuss ways to support an empathic and hopeful attitude in the provision of integrated services
  • Analyze the needs and concerns of persons with co-occurring conditions
  • Practice integrated, longitudinal, and strength-based assessment
  • Use change and recovery models to assess and develop recovery plans
  • Demonstrate strategies and evidence-based practice to facilitate recovery from co-occurring conditions

When:
5 Mondays, October 5 & 19, November 2, 9, & 16 – 9 am to 4 pm

Fee:
$625 (30 contact hours/3.0 CEUs). This course has been submitted for approval to the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Board
