The Integration Initiative developed from a SAMHSA funded, five –year grant project whose goal was to develop and support state and provider capacity to deliver integrated services for people with complex, co-occurring conditions, especially mental health and substance use issues.
The Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services, Childrens Behavioral Health Services and the CDC all collaborate to push this initiative forward. However, all of the Department of Health and Human Services is involved in the work of integrating care for the people it serves.
The ongoing work of the initiative is coordinated by a Steering Committee. (See link under “Committees”. ) For a review and evaluation of the original grant project, click on the link below.
