MAINE HEPATITIS AWARENESS ACTIVITIES
May 7 Lecture: Complementary and Alternative Therapies, Rockport, ME
May 17 Testing and Vaccination at University of Southern Maine Health Fair
The City of Portland, Public Health Division, STD Clinic and the Frannie Peabody Center will offer free hepatitis C and HIV tests
as well as free hepatitis A/B vaccinations to all who qualify. Portland, ME
May 19 Testing and Education: Wabanaki Mental Health and Regional Medical Center at Lubec will offer free hepatitis C testing and educational materials at Wabanaki Mental Health. Bangor, ME.
May 19 Outreach to people at high-risk. Through a partnership with five Vo-Tech school Culinary Arts Programs and Certified Nurse Assistant programs, cookies with the “Am I 12 Logo” accompanied by viral hepatitis educational materials will be baked and distributed by students to local community based organizations serving people at high-risk for viral hepatitis.
Other activities:
Distribution of educational materials in the community by patient advocates
Re-broadcast of an interview with a nurse practitioner from Brunswick Gastroenterology and a patient advocate discussing hepatitis C on local cable TV
Viral hepatitis educational exhibits at several Maine AIDS Walks
The City of Bangor STD Clinic and the City of Lewiston STD Clinic will be showing educational videos about hepatitis C and highlighting hepatitis awareness month in their waiting rooms.
