Maine Cancer Plan

In 2001, the Maine Comprehensive Cancer Control Program, in partnership with the Maine Cancer Consortium External site disclaimer, released the first comprehensive cancer control plan, which identified goals, objectives, and strategies in:

  • Cancer prevention
  • Detection
  • Treatment
  • Rehabilitation
  • Survivorship
  • Palliative and end-of-life care.

This five-year plan is a roadmap designed to make a significant impact on the burden of cancer in Maine. A second edition of the Cancer Plan was released in the summer of 2006. This is the current guiding document for cancer control in Maine.
