Policy/Reports - Overview
Through contracts with five Area Agencies on Aging and other community providers, the
Office serves more than 40,000 older and disabled adults annually, most of them over
the age of 75 and almost all poor. The majority of Maine's elders live on incomes of
less than $15,000 a year. Adult Protective and Guardianship services are administered
directly through 12 local DHS offices statewide.
