Blueberries, Cranberries & Soybeans
 |
Enjoy the Health Benefits of Blueberries, Cranberries & Soybeans during the winter months. |
Believe it or not, blueberry consumption has nearly doubled in the past 20 years. That's good news due to its possible health benefits, which include better brain function, and prevention of cancer and heart disease. Blueberries contain fiber, vitamin C and a plant compound called anthocyanins (that's what makes them blue). All three help keep you healthier. Try mixing fresh or frozen ones in with yogurt, cottage cheese, or cereal (cold or hot).
Cranberries and soybeans also reduce the risk of chronic diseases and other illnesses. Cranberries may protect us from urinary tract infections and heart disease. Soybeans may help lower cholesterol, improve bone health, and improve heart health. To add cranberries to your diet try the new dried fruit on the market called craisins or add cranberry juice to your morning routine. To add soy to your diet, try some soy milk (the chocolate flavor is pretty good) or tofu (it's got a texture like egg and will take on the flavor of whatever it's in, like spaghetti sauce).
