About UsThe primary purpose of the Office of Audit - MaineCare and Social Services is to conduct compliance audits and cost settlement close-outs at approximately 600 different provider organizations and/or community agencies that are entrusted with over $1.1 billion dollars of State and Federal funds. These providers and/or community agencies include Hospitals, Nursing Facilities, Residential Care Facilities, Private Non-Medical Institutions, Intermediate Care Facilities for the Mentally Retarded (ICF/MR’s), Day Habilitation programs and Community Agencies. The Audit Division is responsible for ensuring the federal and State Program funds are expended in accordance with the existing legislation, statutes, and regulations.
