Crisis Worker
Services Provided:
- Phone support - problem solving, supportive communication,
information and referral.
- Outreach services -
mobile outreach services to family homes, agency homes,
the community, emergency rooms. We help stabilize the person
in crisis in the community.
- Consultation & education -
assessments to determine safety interventions/
consultations with families, providers, and community agencies.
- In home supports - support in person’s home to avoid
removal to an alternative setting.
- Crisis admission -
admission to a state operated crisis home. The DHHS crisis
teams maintain eight crisis beds statewide. We support individuals
in the least restrictive means possible, preferably in their
own homes. If they require additional support in the state
run Crisis Home, we assist them to return to their own home
as soon as possible.

How DHHS Crisis Team assists law enforcement
- Police are called but primary need is assessment, support,
consultation
- Emergency room behavioral assessment by DHHS Crisis Team
- Protective custody is not justified, but continued observation
is being requested by staff
- Lost or missing client
- Clients with specific communication needs
- Access to client advocates to report suspected abuse
- Transportation needs beyond police policy.
