Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Library

The Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center Behavioral Health Library holds an extensive collection of psychiatric, psychological and medical journals and about 1000 books, for doctors, nurses, allied health workers, and students. It is a member of the Health Science Libraries Information Consortium and the Maine Library Association, and actively participates in interlibrary loans with other hospitals and universities through DOCLINE. Journals are not circulated, but book borrowing privileges are extended to the public as well as the DDPC staff. A list of the current journals is below.

DDPC also maintains a library for patients and staff, containing about 9000 books and 35 serials for recreational reading. Special Collections include historical materials of DDPC, and a consumer health collection.
