Transfer Station Operator's Training Courses

This will be a combined one-day workshop for municipal transfer station operators, commercial operators, selectmen, town managers, and others who are interested.

The morning session, Core 1, Transfer Station Operations will feature a PowerPoint slide presentation to lead participants through a discussion of how to operate a transfer facility and provide an opportunity to learn from others' successes and mistakes. The afternoon session will include Core 3, will focus on Hazardous & Special Waste (including Asbestos) and will include a brief explanation of Global Harmonization focusing on the type of data that needs to be tracked plus a brief discussion of the operations manual.

Core 1 will be offered in the morning from 8:30 AM to noon, registration at 8 AM. Core 3 will be offered in the afternoon from 1 PM until 4 PM, registration at 12:30 PM. Attendees may register for one or both courses.

Please register soon to join us because space is limited at some locations, but no later than November 8, 2019. Directions to locations are available on our web site or upon request:

  • November 12, 2019 - Augusta: DEP Response Training Room, 4 Blossom Lane, by the Big Smoke Stack

  • November 15, 2019 - Bangor DEP Office, 106 Hogan Road, Bangor, everyone must check in with 3rd floor receptionist

  • November 18, 2019 - Portland, DEP Conference Room 4, Canco Road, Portland (please enter at the back of the building)

  • November 22, 2019 - Presque Isle DEP Conference Room, 1235 Central Drive, Skyway Park, Presque Isle ("If fewer than 5 people sign up for this session, the Department reserves the right to make alternative arrangements such as video conferencing to offer the training.")

Please note that Lunch and Refreshments will no longer be served, but classes are now offered free of charge. Attendees should bring their own coffee, lunch or refreshments.
