A report conducted at the direction of the Maine Legislature. The report examines revenue sources and disbursements for the fiscal years of 1998, 1999 and 2000. Recommendations are made for accelerating petroleum spill clean-up activities, addressing the backlog of sites awaiting clean-up, and for pollution prevention efforts. The report also proposes options for implementation of these recommendations and has noted what changes are necessary to the Ground Water Fund for their implementation.
The FIRB's annual report to the Joint Standing Committee on Energy and Natural Resources discussing the Board and Department of Environmental Protection's experience administering the Ground Water Fund, cleanup activities and third party damage claims. The report also includes information on the record of compliance with the underground tank removal schedule mandated by Maine statute, and an assessment of the adequacy of the fund to cover anticipated expenses.
