October 2000 - Work to Date
During the summer of 1999, contractors working for EPA initiated data collection activities for the Remedial Investigation/ Feasibility Study reports. EPA / ACE’s contractors developed and initiated a work plan, a phase 1 investigation, to collect site data. The Remedial Investigation data collection included the following activities: installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, collection and analysis of groundwater, surface water, residential well, soil and sediment samples, aquatic tests in the East Branch of the Sebasticook River, etc. The site data collected in 1999 was compiled and used to develop a phase 2 data collection, which will begin in autumn of 2000. The collected Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Study data has also been used to aid in conducting actions for the Non-Time Critical Removal Action.
